A Baker’s Midcentury Modern Kitchen

Morden, Manitoba

“In their well-organized kitchen, they can spend less time walking around trying to find things and more time spent baking and making memories with their family…”

Jessica and Michael came into our showroom with a list of must-haves for their kitchen in the new home they were building. These included: slab fronts on their cabinetry in a mix of species and colours, their fridge framed in by their pantry cabinets, a large island where Jess could bake with her children and a warm modernized feel in a space that would fit their family and suit their needs.

We checked off these items by incorporating two colours on HDF painted doors in an MDF800 door style: Chantilly Lace and a custom colour Benjamin Moore Fatigue Green with an island and floating shelves in Walnut Briar on a V106 door.

We framed their refrigerator with two tall pantry cabinets with full extension on the pullouts meaning that everything can be easily accessed. We added some vertical partitions above the fridge where Jess can store her baking pans, which are within close distance to her island where she does most of her prep work and baking.
